NixOS: The Purely Functional Linux Distribution

Session(s)

I maintain a number of audio packages in the nixpkgs collection and generally love talking the ears off of anyone who'll listen, about Nix and NixOS. Over the years I've run quite a few different distros (Mandrake, Gentoo, Ubuntu, Arch, Debian) and two things bothered me greatly about these systems:
1) you can't have both a reliable system and fresh packages,
2) if your system breaks you're stuck until you manage to fix it.
NixOS solves these issues very elegantly (IMO) and I feel it has a lot to offer the Linux Audio community in particular.

Say hi if you want to talk about the details, and come to our talk at 15:45 on Thursday!
