I am a member of the Sheffield Center for Speech and Hearing and Sheffield Center for Robotics working on the EPSRC Natural Speech Technology project in collaboration with Cambridge and Edinburgh and users from the NHS, BBC, GCHQ and Nuance. I previously studied Computer Science at Cambridge and Informatics at Edinburgh; spent two years in London working on automated prediction, trading and valuation for hedge funds Algometrics and Vantage; completed my DPhil at the Pattern Analysis Research Group in Oxford; and worked on computational neuroscience and robotics in the Sheffield Adaptive Behaviour Research Group. My PhD looked at Bayesian methods in computer music and on the NST project I'm using Linux audio as a base for environmental modelling for speech audio recognition.
