Travelling to Parma

Parma is a relatively small city, about 180k inhabitants, situated between Milan and Bologna on the A1 motorway. Most of the historical inner city is off limits to cars except for residents, and finding parking space there can be problematic. If you come by car it’s best to arrange parking space with your hotel.

Parma has a tiny airport, the only international connection is to London Stansted. At the time of writing there are 4 Ryanair flights each week, but this could maybe increase to daily in the spring and summer.

The nearest main airports are Bologna and Milano. From Bologna airport you take the shuttle bus to the city center, from there you have the intercity train (1h) to Parma.

The Milano airports (there are two, Malpensa and Linate) are about 45 min from Milano by bus (every 20 min, 7 Euro), from there you have the intercity train to Parma (1.5h, 14 Euro).
